Governor Ritter Unveils P-20 Partnership
Governor Bill Ritter joined Aurora Public Schools Superintendent John L. Barry recently to introduce the Community Workforce Planning Team (CWPT) and the group’s work to create a viable and sustainable talent pipeline that aligns educational efforts with community workforce needs. The CWPT is a public/private alliance of more than 30 community groups and organizations representing:
- Higher Education
- Industry
- Economic Development
- Workforce Development
- Aurora Public Schools
More than 300 students, parents, staff and community members gathered to learn more about the CWPT and the group’s five-year plan that aligns APS academic and career pathways with industry demands and postsecondary requirements.
“We want to align learning from preschool all the way past college. We want a system that is seamless,” said Governor Bill Ritter.
Demonstrations by APS pathways students concluded the event. Some students showed off suturing and dissection skills. Others demonstrated programming logic and electronic interfaces. APS plans to have one or more pathways offered in every school by 2015.
