As the second week of the 2012-13 school year wound down, the APS community gathered  to celebrate the remodeling efforts at Altura Elementary School.

The remodel expanded the school’s capacity from 338 to 520 students. The design includes an addition that houses new classrooms, a media center and a cafeteria. The existing cafeteria was remodeled into a new secure entry/office area. The project also includes parking lot and site improvements and a roof replacement.

Thanks to bond dollars approved by Aurora voters in 2008, Altura was one of three APS schools to receive building additions and improvements over the summer.
