Fulton Celebrates Re-Opening as Academy of Excellence
Students, staff and community members recently celebrated the grand re-opening of FULTON Academy of Excellence. The school, previously known as Fulton Elementary School, joins Fletcher Primary and Intermediate and William Smith High School as an APS Pilot School.
Pilot Schools are K-12 public schools that are given the autonomy to create a culture that supports high expectations and achievement. While still a part of a school district, Pilot Schools have increased control over budget, design of instruction, daily and yearly schedules and calendars, and staffing decisions.
Festivities at the grand opening included face painting, an Aurora Fire Department truck and demonstration, shaved ice and cupcake food trucks, balloon master and magician, caricaturist, crafts table, PTO popcorn sale and a Mariachi band.
