Paris Students, Families Support Walk to School Day

Walk to School Day

Students received coloring books as a prize for participating in Walk to School Day.

Paris Elementary School students laced up their shoes and braved the cool, early morning temperatures recently to celebrate Walk to School Day.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) encouraged schools to participate in the annual event as part of Colorado Pedestrian Month. Safe Kids Denver Metro and FedEx partnered with Paris to help promote safer walking environments for children. Parents and volunteers from FedEx and Safe Kids accompanied students to school from various points around Paris and upon arrival, students were given Walk to School Day stickers, wristbands and coloring books. They also signed poster boards titled "I Walked or Wheeled to School Today."

Sponsors held a raffle drawing, awarding two brand new bicycles to students.

Paris was one of more than 1,000 schools nationwide to participate in Safe Kids Sponsored Walk to School Day events.
