The Aurora Public Schools and Pickens Technical College Executive Internship Program recently held its end of semester Sponsor Appreciation Ceremony at the Professional Learning & Conference Center.  Students Raul Amaya (Hinkley), Kyle Landon (Gateway), Jennifer Ruiz (Aurora Central) and Manpreet Singh (Rangeview) were the hosts for the evening.  The audience of about 175 included APS Deputy Superintendent William Stuart and representatives from the high schools.  Proud parents supported their sons and daughters who spoke to the audience about their internship experiences and what it meant for their future.

Jake Jabs, American Furniture Warehouse President & CEO, spoke to the audience, sharing advice about his success in business.  After sponsoring Sonia Hernandez, an intern from Hinkley, Jabs commended the Executive Internship Program and enthusiastically stated “count us in” for future internships.

Many students received the President’s Volunteer Service Award at the Bronze level for completing 100 hours of community service.  Samantha Roth (Aurora Central) received the Silver award for completing 175-249 hours of community service and four students received the gold award for 250 hours of community service, including Jamara Blumenberg (Rangeview), Camille d’Aragon (Rangeview), Jonathan Guadalupe Delgado (Aurora Central) and Michelle McCandlish (Gateway).

The EIP Advisory Committee presented two $300 scholarships to Amaya and Delgado donated from Broadview Animal Clinic.
