Students and families recently enjoyed South Middle School’s first-ever Health and Wellness Expo. The South STRONG community was excited to share useful information with attendees, placing a special focus on newcomer families.
Parents were connected with community health resources including the Metro Community Provider Network, Tri-County Health Department, American Heart Association, Inner City Health Center and Adventure Dental. They also learned about CPR kits and bicycle safety and had an opportunity to sign up for smoke detectors.
Families were treated to healthy smoothies, taekwondo demonstrations, yoga classes, hand massages and more! A community tasting table where parents brought food to sample was also a big hit.
In Aurora Public Schools, we believe that community partnerships provide vital resources and opportunities for students and families. Many thanks to all of the participants and donors, including Kaiser Permanente, Wal-Mart and Ace Hardware, who made the expo a success.
