On June 6, the Board held its last Business Meeting of the School year. The Board’s last meeting of the year will be on June 20.
As this is the last meeting of this type for the year, the Board typically has numerous technical and compliance issues it must address. In addition to those items, the Board considered the following significant issues:
- The District Accreditation contract. This is the agreement between APS and CDE which implements the state accountability framework. State law requires an annual contract.
- The formal presentation of the application from the Denver School of Science and Technology. DSST proposes to open a 6-12 campus in partnership with the District. If certain performance benchmarks are hit, the application proposes a second 6-12 campus at a later date.
- Recommendations of the terms agreed upon by the AEA and the Board’s negotiating team.
- Finally, the formal 17-18 budget was presented to the Board.
As you might imagine, each of these items involve significant detail. I encourage you to review the Board presentation sand minutes which can be accessed through our website.
