APS Welcomes New Teachers

With the first days of school right around the corner, new staff at Aurora Public Schools are gearing up for the return of students and families for the 2017-18 school year.

More than 270 highly-qualified educators recently came together to participate in the district’s annual new teacher orientation at Gateway High School. Superintendent Rico Munn kicked off the event by personally welcoming the group to the APS and Aurora family.

When asked why she chose APS, Taylor Porter, a new teacher eager to open her classroom door to students at Park Lane Elementary School, said “I love the idea of working for a diverse school district. It is a special experience.”

We at APS couldn’t agree more with Porter. Diversity is a strength in our community, and we are proud to have educators who share that same belief.
