Murphy Creek Students Train to Maintain Positive School Culture

For the past eight years, Murphy Creek P-8 has operated as a No Place for Hate school. This designation affirms their undying desire to provide a safe learning environment for every student, every day.

In an effort to preserve such a positive space, Murphy Creek’s No Place for Hate Student Coalition participated in an all-day training facilitated by experts from the Anti-Defamation League. Colorado’s former first lady Dottie Lamm also joined students for this learning opportunity.

The group focused on cyberbullying and the unfortunate long-term impact it has on victims. They engaged in heartfelt discussions, victim-ally role playing and more, learning how to support their peers and lead by example by remaining responsible and respectful online and offline at all times. In the end, students walked away with a deeper understanding of the issue and how to address it appropriately.

Aurora Public Schools is proud to see the “Home of the Jets” uphold safety as a top priority and ban together against bullying.
