In Aurora Public Schools, we believe that families are our partners in education. We provide opportunities for families to support their students at home so they can excel.
Recently, more than 100 families attended a workshop and dinner at Crawford Elementary School to help their students do well in school and achieve their goals. The workshop focused on practicing a “growth mindset” that encourages students to learn from failure and move forward positively. To support Crawford’s diverse community, staff provided interpretation in multiple languages.
Crawford Community Liaison Kate Garvin recognizes the importance of parent workshops and organizes one every quarter for families. “Students are more successful when the instruction given in the classroom is also given at home,” she said.
