Ready to learn about pharmacology, respiratory therapy, dental science or the basic concepts of nursing? For ambitious high school students and adults who have an interest in the medical field, the answer is simply – yes!

Pickens Technical College is inspiring students every day to follow their dreams by offering courses in a wide range of technical programs and career fields. For many APS students, their dreams lead to a career in the medical field.

Vista PEAK High School Senior Julia Rosales knew at a young age that she wanted to study medicine. It wasn’t until she attended a Pickens open house her junior year that she decided to pursue a career in medical assisting.

“I’ve always been interested in medicine and really enjoy helping people. The Pickens Open House introduced me to medical assisting, and I immediately fell in love the program. I feel confident that by the time I graduate, I will be fully prepared for my post-college career as a medical assistant,” says Rosales.

Pickens student Jasmine Smith has her sights set on becoming a nurse, and she has Pickens to thank.

“The staff at Pickens changed my life and validated my interest in becoming a nurse. Everyone here wants you to succeed, so they will go above and beyond to push you toward the finish line,” Smith says. “It feels like home when I’m here.”

Pickens boasts a simulation center equipped with the most advanced and up-to-date medical equipment available. Students gain valuable knowledge and experience by practicing scenarios similar to what they would perform in hospitals.

With modern, high-tech facilities and educators who are experts in their fields, Pickens Technical College helps students earn meaningful credentials that prepare them for in-demand careers.
