Supt. Message: Mourning the Loss of Mayor Steve Hogan

Aurora Public Schools Community:

As we mourn the death of Aurora Mayor Steve Hogan, our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. On behalf of our students, families, staff and Board of Education, I would like to offer our sincere condolences.

Mayor Hogan was a strong supporter of APS students and families throughout his more than 30 years of public service. He cared deeply about education and believed in every student's ability to have a positive impact on our community. He supported our schools and district in countless ways including attending school and district events, regularly reading books to our elementary students and recognizing our students every year as Aurora Scholars.

We thank Mayor Hogan for his leadership and the legacy he leaves behind. His death is truly a loss for all of us, but as we mourn together, I know we will continue to showcase the best that Aurora has to offer. Aurora will continue to grow and be the dynamic city that Mayor Hogan poured his heart into shaping.

In lieu of flowers, his family has asked that people donate to the Mayor Stephen D. Hogan Memorial Fund. The city will make a donation link available on their website this week.

Donations will be distributed to causes that were important to Mayor Hogan including the University of Denver Stephen D. Hogan Scholarship Fund, the 7/20 Memorial Fund, the Aurora Korean Memorial Fund and the Aurora History Museum.
