NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
Aurora Public Schools
(Joint District No. 28-J of the Counties of Adams and Arapahoe)
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Education of Aurora Public Schools will hold a public meeting on August 21, 2012, at 6:00 p.m., in the Dr. Edward and Mrs. Patricia Lord Boardroom of Educational Services Center 4, 1085 Peoria Street, Aurora, Colorado 80011.
The purpose will include a discussion of and to take action on a resolution concerning participating in the November 6, 2012, coordinated election. The School Board will vote to determine whether to place a tax increase on the ballot for a mill levy not to exceed 8.7 mills, for general fund purposes relating to increasing student achievement, graduation rates and student safety, which may include but is not limited to:
- recovering a portion of the reduced state funding to be used for reading, writing, math, science, early childhood education and more public school choices;
- recovering a portion of reduced state funding to be used for instructional classroom technology, equipment and curriculum materials which aid in preparing students for college and careers;
- recruiting and retaining high quality teachers and staff to provide for smaller class sizes, increased graduation rates, and lower dropout rates.

The Aurora Public Schools Board of Education meetings are generally held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6 p.m.
The meetings are held at the Dr. Ed Lord and Patricia Lord Board Room, Educational Services Center - 4, 1085 Peoria St. These meetings are open to the public.
In 2012-13, the board meetings will follow one of these formats: board workshop, board work session, general board meeting or executive session. Board agendas identify the meeting format.
