The President's Commission on White House Fellowship is currently in the process of recruiting the 2013-2014 Class of White House Fellows. The Fellowship is America's most prestigious nonpartisan program for leadership and public service. It's designed to provide young leaders an opportunity to experience how government works by learning from public service leaders at the highest levels. They need your help in identifying strong, qualified candidates and encourage them to apply to the White House Fellows Program.

The White House Fellows Program is now accepting applications online until Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 5:59 PM (EST). If you have questions please call The White House Fellows Office at 202-395-4522.

APS Board of Education Special Work Session

On Tuesday, January 8, the Aurora Public Schools Board of Education will hold a special work session pursuant to C.R.S. 22-32-108, to discuss the superintendent search. 

This special work session will take place from 5-6 p.m. in Conference Room A of Educational Services Center 4, located at 1085 Peoria Street, Aurora, CO 80011.

The Aurora Public Schools Board of Education meetings are generally held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6 p.m.

The meetings are held at the Dr. Ed Lord and Patricia Lord Board Room, Educational Services Center - 4, 1085 Peoria St. These meetings are open to the public.

In 2012-13, the board meetings will follow one of these formats: board workshop, board work session, general board meeting or executive session. Board agendas identify the meeting format.

The Aurora Central High School Air Force Junior ROTIC Unit, under the Command of Lt Col John Plaza, will “Post the Colors” to open the week-long MLK Jr. Celebration event at the Town Center at Aurora.  The Aurora Central High School vocal group The Trojanaires, under the direction of Donella Iverson, will also sing the Star Spangled Banner and “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Below is the full list of events for the week.

The special work session will take place from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Mt. Harvard Room at the Professional Learning and Conference Center, 15771 E. 1^st Avenue, Aurora, CO 80011.

Join us for the 13th annual Aurora Art Educators show, an exhibit showcasing the talent behind Aurora Public Schools art educators. The exhibit, located at Downtown Aurora Visual Arts (DAVA), 1405 Florence St., is free and will be open to the public 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday from Jan. 18 to Feb. 22. 

The opening reception will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 18.
