Aurora Public Schools Board of Education Notes Newsletter

Welcome to the September 2017 edition of the
APS Board of Education Newsletter!

On behalf of the Board, Id like to welcome all of our students, families and staff back for another great school year.

This year marked the 10th Annual Back to School Kickoff. Thousands of families and staff members enjoyed the spectacular event at the Town Center at Aurora. During the kickoff, APS launched a new interactive map. Be sure to check it out to view school promotional videos, demographics and performance data for each school.

Speaking of performance data, we are thrilled to begin the year with news that APS has earned its way off the state accountability clock. The hard work and dedication of APS staff members, students and families are paying off as we continue to shape successful futures.

- Amber Drevon, APS Board President

Back-to-School Highlights

The APS Board of Education is excited to partner with our community throughout the 2017-18 school year. With almost one month down, this school year is getting off to a great start. We look forward to celebrating successes and continuing to build on our momentum of increasing student achievement across the district. There is still much work to be done! It is our honor to partner with you.

During the first days of school, we had the pleasure of greeting students and welcoming them back to school alongside APS staff and community members.

On Saturday, August 5, our community also helped make our Back-to-School Kickoff a big success. Thousands of students, families, and staff and community members came out to enjoy good food, take home school supplies and learn about helpful resources. Thank you to the Town Center at Aurora for continuing to graciously host this well-loved event.
