“The Music Man” Coming to Gateway

There’s going to be some trouble at Gateway High School’s new theater this week.

No, not any disciplinary problems. Gateway students will perform Meredith Wilson’s, “The Music Man,” where they’ll sing favorites such as, “Gary, Indiana,” “Seventy-Six Trombones,” and of course, “Trouble.”

The musical follows the fast-talking salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize – this despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef.

Students will perform “The Music Man,” at 7 p.m. on April 15, 16, 17, 23, and 24. Admission is $6. Tickets are on sale at Gateway High School, 1300 S. Sable Blvd., 303-755-7160. Major credit cards are accepted.

Dinner theater tickets are available for the April 15 show. There will be a turn-of-the-century theme and the performers will serve dinner in costume. The audience is also encouraged to wear Victorian Era attire. Dinner starts at 6 p.m. Tickets to the dinner theater are $14 each or $25 per couple.
