The Aurora Public Schools Board of Education is narrowing down the number of candidates for the superintendent position. APS will present the finalists at an open forum on Monday, May 22 at Gateway High School located at 1300 South Sable Blvd. A candidate reception will be held from 5:30-6:45 p.m. From 7-9:30 p.m., the candidates will introduce themselves and answer questions from board and audience members. Sign-language and Spanish interpretation will be available.
On Tuesday, May 23, select students, parents, staff and community members will interview the finalists.
APS received a total of 34 candidate applications from eighteen states, the District of Columbia and one South American country. Sixty-five percent of the applicants hold doctorate degrees and thirty-five percent have present or past connections to Aurora or Colorado.
The board will name the finalists on Monday, May 22, by 8 a.m. and make its final decision by the end of May.
