It’s not just a technical center anymore, it’s Pickens Technical College. The name change reflects a new partnership with the Community College of Aurora and shows how APS is giving students a running start towards earning a college degree.
By graduating with up to 42 credits of college coursework from Pickens Technical College, students can head off to college with only 18 credits between them and an associate degree from CCA and other state colleges.
Pickens Technical College offers technical training for adults and high school students in nearly 50 certificate programs. It’s unique and talented student population will fill future hands-on and technical careers such as electricians, mechanics, hair stylists, and dental assistants.
Do the math. It adds up to college-bound students, a goal of the new APS strategic plan, VISTA 2010-- to graduate every student with the chance to go to college.
