In a unanimous vote, the APS Board of Education appointed D. Rico Munn as the next Superintendent of Schools. “The APS Board of Education is confident that Munn is committed to the APS community, to doing what is best for the district and to increasing student achievement,” BOE President JulieMarie Shepherd said. Munn will begin his role on July 1. |

Shepherd invited all Superintendent Quarterly Award Winners for 2012-13 to a dinner banquet recently to celebrate those who make a difference in the lives of APS students. Of these quarterly winners, Barry honored ten staff members, a parent and a community/business member with the Superintendent Annual Award. |
Jewell Elementary staff, students and parents recently celebrated the opening of their new community library. The project was funded with mill levy dollars approved by Aurora voters in November 2012, along with a $5,000 grant from Lowe’s to create a dedicated parent section. |
Twelve Aurora Public Schools students are on cloud nine after finding out that they had earned a Boettcher, Daniel’s Fund or Gates Millennium scholarship. Aurora Central senior Kushmakar Baral is a Daniels Fund and Gates scholar, a feat not often accomplished. He plans to study biomedical engineering at University of Colorado at Boulder. |
