APS Staff Present and Earn Accolades at Annual Math Conference

Teachers and instructional coaches from Aurora Public Schools recently took part in the Colorado Council of Teachers of Mathematics (CCTM) conference on Sept. 26, 2008. Not only did APS teachers present on a variety of different topics, they also earned mathematics teaching awards and grants. The following APS teachers earned this year's CCTM Teaching Award:

  • Judy McDonald and Cheryl Rebik - West MS The 24 Game: A Way to Build Whole Number and Rational Number Fluency
  • Adrianna Meeker - Fulton ES and Carol Wilson - District coach Subtraction Strategies: Supporting Students in Computational Fluency and Flexibility
  • Rachael Risley and Jim Hogan - Division of Instruction Developing Math Coaches and Teacher Leaders
  • Patti Capps - Sable ES CCTM Professional Development Grant Projects
  • Mark Koester - Gateway HS A Unique Mathematics Intervention Course for Struggling Ninth and Tenth Graders
  • Carol Wilson and Barb Tanguay - District coaches Fluency with Multiplication Facts
  • Stephanie Gianneschi - District coach How Can We Make Math Accessible for All Students?
The following APS teachers earned CCTM grants:
  • Adrianna Meeker/Fulton ES The Fulton math cadre will be developing computational fluency in all classrooms by examining number sense understandings in the primary grades and making connections to grade level content work in the intermediate grades.
  • Jori Botvinick/Fletcher ES Jori will be working with teachers to develop Promethean Board flip charts to used with Investigation lessons.
