APS elementary teachers Kelsey Muellner (left) and Becky Slater earn national certification.
Fletcher Elementary teacher Kelsey Muellner, Peoria Elementary teacher Becky Slater and Hinkley High School teacher Amy Nichols recently joined an elite group of educators by earning their national certification. There are less than 400 National Board Certified Teachers in Colorado and approximately 64,000 nationwide. National Board Certification is administered by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
National Board Certification verifies that educators have met high, rigorous standards for teaching excellence. To become board certified, teachers must successful complete a classroom-based portfolio of teaching practice and provide an assessment of content knowledge.
