Denver Broncos star quarterback Peyton Manning brought smiles and laughter to the faces of juniors and seniors at Gateway High School recently during a surprise visit to the campus. Manning appeared on behalf of his charity, the Peyback Foundation, which began supporting youth-based organizations in Colorado this year.
Manning, well aware of the hardship Gateway's students and staff experienced last summer following the Aurora movie theater tragedy, spoke about the importance of having determination and perseverance. In addition to praising Gateway staff and students, Manning spoke about some of his experiences overcoming obstacles to achieve goals.
When asked by students what his favorite high school memory was, Manning reminisced about being a sophomore and playing on the same team as his older brother.
"We got to high school and got to play on the same team together," Manning said. "That was really a special year."
In addition to fielding questions, Manning tossed a few footballs to several students.
Thank you, Peyton and the Peyback Foundation, for your generosity to our students!
