APS Community Bids Farewell to Departing Board Members

BOE Farewell Celebration

Eight years can fly by in the blink of an eye. Just ask Aurora Public Schools Board of Education members Jane Barber, Jeanette Carmany and Matthew Cook.

The three term-limited board members, who began serving APS in 2005, are nearing the end of their second terms in office. However, staff, former APS board members and other community partners gathered Oct. 15 for a reception to honor Barber, Carmany and Cook before they officially end their service.

A host of well-wishers congregated with the guests of honor, sharing laughs and fond memories of their nearly 10 years with APS.

Colorado Rep. Rhonda Fields, D-Aurora, thanked each board member for going beyond their call of duty and truly being entrenched in the Aurora community.

Barber, Carmany and Cook went home with an array of parting gifts, including copies of Linda Kranz' Only One You, signed cards and complimentary treats from Nothing Bundt Cakes.

Thanks for your service to Aurora Public Schools!
