A host of Aurora community members, business partners and Aurora Public Schools  staff members visited several schools recently to participate in the Leaders are Readers program.

Students across APS heard some of their favorite books from Mayor Steve Hogan, Aurora Fire Chief Mike Garcia and Rep. Su Ryden, among many others. Participants visited nearly 20 APS schools throughout the day. The goal of the program is to help increase student achievement and show students that our community "leaders are readers."

Oct. 24 was the first of three scheduled reading days of the Leaders are Readers program this year.

APS is one of many school districts across Colorado celebrating “Read Aloud Month.” Parents can do their part and build a lifetime reading habit with their children by reading out loud with them every day.
