The Jamaica Child Development Center recently hosted a Passport to Literacy Night. More than 80 parents and 110 children joined staff members to learn about the critical role that parents play in their child’s literacy development.
Jamaica CDC staff members worked with RISE Colorado to present workshops on writing, phonemic awareness, alliteration, rhyming and reading. In addition, families enjoyed viewing their preschoolers’ artwork displayed in each of the classrooms. At the end of the event, each family took home a science book and a CD featuring songs by Jamaica CDC students.
