Hospital Treatment Program Helping Students Learn While Getting Healthy

For most people, hospital stays are no fun. While it's the best place to be to receive top notch medical care, the thought alone can be daunting, especially for children. Fortunately, Children's Hospital Colorado and Aurora Public Schools have built a long-lasting, unique initiative that ensures students receiving long-term medical care are still able to learn.

The Medical Day Treatment Program, which began in 1991,  provides an educational alternative for children whose needs are too complicated to allow them to attend regular school. Under the program, children are able to meet academic expectations in an environment that provides the medical and emotional interventions they need daily. Simply put, the Medical Day Treatment Program helps to bring a sense of normalcy to children whose lives have taken an abnormal turn.

Recently, Jones International University sponsored a video highlighting the program and the smiling faces of its beneficiaries.

Thank you, Children's Hospital Colorado! APS is proud to partner with you to help students accelerate learning in environments that best suit their needs.
