The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Toll Gate Creek Chapter recently joined Dalton Elementary School students to honor everyday heroes who protect our communities and those who risked or lost their lives in the September 11 attacks. This is the third consecutive year DAR hosted the event at Dalton.
Students enjoyed a reciting of “Old Glory” and participated in the Pledge of Allegiance. The Aurora Police and Fire Honor Guards presented the United States flag and posted the colors in a touching ceremony while sounds from a bagpiper and the school’s choir filled the air.
Thanks to a donation from Graebel Companies, each student had a small flag to wave to partake in the celebration.
Aurora Public Schools is proud to see our students take the time to pay respect to our first responders.
The event is a great example of our APS 2020: Shaping the Future core belief that community partnerships provide vital resources and opportunities for students and families.
