The Aurora Public Schools English Language Acquisition department is committed to ensuring every student receives an equitable education that is respectful of their cultural legacies and linguistic skills.
At Peoria Elementary School, students are learning language development through enriching, engaging, equitable, and technology-infused experiences.
Through projects that incorporate Legos, coding, broadcasting and more, students are finding their voices.
“Their motivation is through the roof,” said Peoria fifth-grade teacher Karla Fought. “They’re so engaged and they just can’t wait to come to ELD [English Language Development] now.”
This is a wonderful example of the APS 2020: Shaping the Future strategic plan core belief that all students must have equitable access to learning opportunities, technology and environments that support them in reaching their full potential.
