Denver Art Museum Comes to Peoria Elementary

What do a pair of moccasins, storyteller dolls and a brightly colored button blanket all have in common? They are all pieces of art - or so sayeth the students at Peoria Elementary.

From Jan. 19 to Feb. 13, students and their families were able to explore and create art pieces of their own.

The exhibit showcased the museum’s Native American art collection, created by local Navajo artist Melanie Yazzie. The art ranged from drawings, moccasins, storyteller dolls, a button blanket and a parfleche bag.

Thank you Denver Art Museum for providing this artful opportunity to our students and their families. Community partnerships play a vital role in our students’ lives.
