On Tuesday, April 3, the Board held its monthly Business Meeting. The meeting was kicked off by a performance compliments of the Modern Band, Guitar and Piano ensemble from Rangeview High School under the direction of Mr. Randal Gregory.
The majority of the meeting covered three major topics:
- The Board considered staff recommendations to adopt new Health, World Language and Literacy curricular materials. For over an hour the Board reviewed the resource review and piloting process, stakeholder input and cost estimates. The Board is expected to consider a vote on the recommendations at its next regular meeting.
- The Board heard and reviewed a presentation regarding the Kelly Services contract for substitute teaching positions. The presentation included several years of data (pre and post Kelly) and an analysis of contract costs.
- Finally, the Board heard an update on the State budget and potential APS budgetary impacts related to the current legislative session. The pending PERA legislation and the potential changes to the School Finance Act are significant factors for APS’ budget.
As always, you may review Board minutes and presentations on our website.
