On Tuesday, May 1, the Board held its monthly Business Meeting. he meeting was opened with a performance by the Century Elementary School choir and by recognition of staff, student and community members in the ACTION Zone.
Major issues addressed by the Board included the following:
- The Board reviewed the draft Proposed Budget. The Proposed Budget includes, among many things, the following proposals:
- 4.05% average compensation increase for all employees
- Creation of APS Avenues
- Additional funding for our Affective Needs classrooms
I encourage you to review the full draft budget and the summary presentation on the Board meeting website. The Board will consider the Proposed Budget over the next month and is expected to adopt a final budget on June 19.
- The Board also heard the proposal from VPE and VPP to continue their innovation status. Representatives of the two schools discussed the successes and lessons learned from their work over the last several years and asked the Board to approve their continued status. The Board is expected to take a final vote at its next meeting.
The Board will have two extra meetings this month as they plan on taking time to go over the Board Policy manual. The next regular Board meeting is on May 15.
As always, you may review Board minutes and presentations on our website.
