Supt Message: Thank You and Have a Great Fall Break!

APS:

Congratulations on a successful first quarter! I am proud of the work we have done in such a short amount of time and am equally as excited for what is yet to come. APS CARES about your physical and mental well-being and we hope you all enjoy a very safe, relaxing and warm Fall Break with your family and friends. It is well deserved.

Among our many accomplishments this quarter are the official openings of the new Mrachek Middle School, the Olympian Wellness Center at Gateway High School, the new STEM wing at Vista PEAK Preparatory and our groundbreaking for CSU-Global’s new headquarters. In addition, we celebrated Aurora Central’s Kyle Jones for his seven-game champion streak on Jeopardy, Rangeview’s Joseph Dillon and Murphy Creek P-8 for being recognized by Colorado Succeeds and our 27 schools that earned the highest performance rating from the Colorado Department of Education.

In this spirit of celebration, please join me in acknowledging our classified teammates for their hard work and dedication during Colorado Classified School Employees Week, which is observed during Fall Break this year. Our classified staff ensure our students are transported to and from school, fed nutritious meals, learn in clean environments, remain safe at all times and much more. They are a cornerstone of APS and we are able to serve our students and families so seamlessly thanks to their relentless efforts.

October is also College Application Month. Please help us encourage students to apply for college before the month’s end. Fall Break may be a great time for students to gather their required materials to apply. On Tuesday, Oct. 30, all 32 public colleges and universities in Colorado, as well as several private institutions, will allow students to apply for free as part of the inaugural Colorado Free Application Day. We hope our students take advantage of this great opportunity.

Finally, while spending time with your loved ones over break, questions regarding Ballot Issue 5A may arise. Equip yourself with the facts by visiting our Mill Levy Information page. Also, please take a look at the Employee Election Guidelines.

Thank you all for making APS a wonderful place for our students and families to learn, grow and succeed. I am confident that we will maintain our momentum in helping every student shape a successful future. I hope you all enjoy a safe and restful fall break!
