State Honors APS Schools with 2018 Achievement Awards

The Colorado Department of Education recently recognized four APS schools with its annual academic recognition awards. They are as follows:

2018 Centers of Excellence Award:

The CDE distributes this award to schools with the highest rates of student academic growth, as measured by the Colorado Growth Model, and a student population that is at least 75 percent at risk.

  • Vega Collegiate Academy


Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award:

This award is presented to schools that demonstrate exceptional student growth by exceeding expectations related to longitudinal academic growth and by meeting or exceeding expectations related to academic growth gaps.

  • Academy of Advanced Learning


John Irwin Schools of Excellence Award:

CDE awards this distinction to schools that demonstrate excellent academic achievement by exceeding expectations on the academic achievement indicator and by meeting or exceeding expectations related to academic growth gaps.
