"A state championship trophy had not been awarded to the Rangeview boys basketball team since 1985 — at the second-highest level. The 2019 Raiders understood the past. And how to change it.

The final scene Saturday night from state tournament weekend inside the Denver Coliseum: the smiling faces of Rangeview players hoisting their net-covered prize after a 61-47 victory over top-seeded Chaparral in the biggest classification, 5A.

The red-hot No. 3 Raiders (26-2) simply couldn’t be beaten. They finished the season on a 19-game winning streak that dated to late December. The feat was made more impressive by the Raiders’ roster construction: two sophomores, seven juniors and only three seniors. So, yes, they’ll be among the favorites again next year."
