Recently, APS and the Denver Broncos partnered to celebrate the completion of Aurora Central High School's new synthetic turf field at a Junior Football Training Camp. Students of all ages practiced their football skills and met Broncos cheerleaders and Broncos alumnus Mark Jackson.
Built in the 1950’s, the school's original turf field served both students and the community for more than 60 years. Overtime, the field deteriorated and needed significant renovations. The new state-of-the-art turf field will require less maintenance and its upkeep will be cost effective. The new field will serve not only Aurora Central students, but will also be used for events and youth leagues in the community.
The turf field was made possible through a generous grant from the National Football League Foundation Grassroots Program in partnership with the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC). Additional funds were provided by the district's 2016 bond program to complete the renovation on the field. We are grateful to the Aurora citizens for supporting our $300 million bond measure in 2016 and to the NFL, LISC and Broncos Community for their generosity and support.
