Gateway’s “Shop With an Oly” Spreads Christmas Cheer to Community

Each year, hundreds of high school-age elves in Aurora help make Santa's job a little easier. Students from Gateway High School recently took 86 local elementary students on an exciting holiday shopping trip at Target. The annual event is called "Shop With an Oly" ("Oly" is short for "Olympian," Gateway's mascot) and is a highlight of the holiday season.

Gateway challenges its students to raise $100 for each elementary student. The elementary students were able to spend $60 on gifts for their family and $40 on themselves.

After shopping, the students returned to Gateway to wrap their gifts, enjoy cookies and games and even meet Santa and Mrs. Claus. At the end of the event, Gateway presented each elementary student and their family with a large box of food containing all the trimmings for a fantastic holiday meal.
