Story by APS Project Manager Janna Morley
Recently, students, staff, families and community members gathered to celebrate the Wolverines’ new playground at Side Creek Elementary School.
Thanks to a generous grant from Great Outdoors Colorado and a partnership with the City of Aurora, the school was able to purchase a brand new, large piece of playground equipment, along with a set of swings, 15 trees, and an updated blacktop surface, complete with freshly painted games and stripes.
Representatives from GOCO and the City of Aurora were in attendance and had a chance to celebrate with the community and share in the excitement of the new additions. Principal Nelson Van Vranken, accompanied by student and parent speakers, acknowledged the donors for their partnership, contributions and dedication to the project.
As detailed in the APS 2020: Shaping the Future strategic plan, we believe community partnerships provide vital resources and opportunities for students and families. We thank everyone who made this possible! The project will have a positive impact on students for generations to come.
