Pickens Tech Opens Doors to College and Career Success

Aurora Public Schools is committed to preparing students for college and career success. In addition to traditional school settings, we provide students opportunities to earn industry credentials through career and technical education at Pickens Technical College!

Pickens stands as one of only three technical colleges in Colorado, offering nearly 50 certificate programs to high school students and adults. The school’s career and technical programs prepare our students for a wide range of high-skill, high-demand careers.

One such career is Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) technicians. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, HVAC careers are projected to grow 13 percent from 2018 to 2028, much faster than the average. Pickens’ HVAC Technology Program offers students opportunities to learn entry-level residential skills through hands on instruction and internships to become certified technicians.

For Pickens students like Jacob Turner, an HVAC career couldn’t be more fitting.

“I really value being able to go out and gain on-the-job training with people who have been in my shoes,” said Turner. “I enjoy working with my hands and can’t wait to enter the industry and start creating a career for myself.”
