APS Seeks Feedback from Regions 3 and 6 Communities on Proposed School Boundary Scenarios

The APS Board of Education recently approved several Blueprint APS proposals to Regions 3 and 6 in Aurora, including closing both Lyn Knoll and Century elementary schools and phasing out South Middle School. These changes will require new attendance area boundaries for schools within these regions.

As part of the process for establishing attendance area boundaries for affected schools, APS formed two committees comprised of parents, staff and community members. These committees have assessed the attendance areas and enrollment capacities in these regions and are recommending attendance area boundary changes as needed at the following schools:

  • Century
  • Dartmouth
  • Iowa
  • Jewell
  • Lansing
  • Lyn Knoll
  • Yale
  • Sixth Avenue
  • Aurora Hills M.S.
  • North M.S.
  • South M.S.

APS invites parents, staff and community members living within Regions 3 and 6 to attend one of the following virtual community engagement sessions to learn more about the scenarios.

Based on the data collected and community input, district leadership and the attendance area committees will prepare recommendations to present to the APS Board of Education in March 2021. If the Board approves the recommendations, new boundaries will go into effect for the 2021-22 school year.
