Where Aurora Public Schools showcases YOUR conservation efforts to redirect wasted utility $'s back into your classroom!

Marcus Harper leads the Energy & Building Optimization through collaboration with the DMC/DDC Controls Team. The focus of this group of highly-skilled professionals is to ensure comfort and energy savings through rigorous and regular monitoring and improvements within our sites.

Through student-led efforts, cutting-edge technology, and expert HVAC troubleshooting, our district has generated more than $1.5 million (and counting!) in energy cost avoidance since 2014. For independent validation of district progress toward its DOE Better Buildings Challenge goal to reduce energy use by 20% by 2023, please visit the following website. https://betterbuildingssolutioncenter.energy.gov/partners/aurora-public-schools

At APS, we promote behavior change by helping students identify project-based learning opportunities to study, facilitate and replicate resource conservation best practices throughout their schools and communities. For a description of the proven methodology adopted by APS to incentivize schools for their student's engagement efforts toward promoting a more sustainable learning environment and community, please reference the following US Department of Energy link. https://betterbuildingssolutioncenter.energy.gov/implementation-models/innovations-incentivizing-energy-conservation
