Aurora students create their own “Project Runway”
Students look to save the earth and look fashionable at the same time

When teaching the state standards, many schools introduce the concepts of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle to students.  Students at Aurora Frontier K-8 are taking these concepts to the runway.  In a fashion show on Dec. 22, students will highlight fashions they made completely from recycled materials.

Students at Frontier will showcase their “Recycled Clothing Creations” in front of their peers and community.  Professional stylists from Xenon International School of Hair Design in Aurora will help students with hair and makeup.

“This meaningful experience allows students the opportunity to meet visual art state standards in a fun and creative way. Students are using recycled fabric, broken pieces of CD’s and soda tabs for their runway ensembles,” said Aurora Frontier teacher Thad McCauley.

"I am looking forward to walking the runway.  It will be cool!" said third-grade student Jacob.

Participants will be available for interviews.
