More than 100 children from all over the state are spending this week at Gateway High School for the 24th Annual Colorado Junior Wheelchair Sports Camp. This special camp provides wheelchair-bound children the opportunity to experience a traditional camp experience not often available to them.
This camp introduces children ages 6-18 to both recreational and competitive wheelchair sports. Adult wheelchair athletes and community volunteers provide instruction in various activities including tennis, archery, basketball, swimming, softball and rugby. The campers also learn recreational games such as hand cycling, cup stacking and bowling.
