Industry Recognized Certificates/Credentials
Students have the potential to earn an industry recognized certificates and credentials through their experiences in our CTE programs. The following certificates and credentials could include the following:
Employability Skills
While enrolled in the Computer and Digital Technologies program, students will be expected to work on various employability skills that could be related to the industry recognized certificate/credentials listed above. See some examples of how students will work on these skills below :
- Technical Proficiency:
Technical proficiency involves having a strong command of relevant computer programming languages, software, hardware, and digital tools. It also includes the ability to adapt to new technologies and platforms.
- Problem-Solving Skills:
Problem-solving skills involve the ability to analyze complex issues, break them down into manageable parts, and develop effective solutions. It also includes collaborating with teams to tackle complex technical challenges in software development or network management.
- Teamwork and Collaboration:
Teamwork and collaboration skills involve the ability to work effectively with others, communicate ideas, and contribute to a group's success. It also includes communicating technical concepts and solutions to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.
CTSO Applications
Students who enroll in a course within the Computer and Digital Technologies program have the opportunity to engage in in a CTSO. Below are some potential applications to a CTSO that student could be involved when participating in this CTE program :
- SkillsUSA: Computer Programming
This contest utilizes both written and practical exercises to evaluate the contestants’ abilities and knowledge of the field. Students explain the ins and outs of programming languages in addition to create an executable program from written instructions and design notes.
- SkillsUSA: Technical Computer Applications
This contest utilizes both written and practical exercises to evaluate the contestants’ abilities and knowledge of the field. Contestants demonstrate installation, configuration and use of Windows, Mac OSX and Linux Professional Operating Systems and one or more integrated office suite packages
- TSA: Coding
Participants take a test, which concentrates on aspects of coding, to qualify for the semifinal round of competition. Semifinalists develop a software program – in a designated amount of time – that accurately addresses an onsite problem.
