The APS Board of Education follows regular practices to create transparent, two-way communication with the community. Below is a description of these practices.

  • Board meetings
    • Meetings are generally held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6 p.m.
    • Board meetings follow one of these formats: regular Board business meeting, Board workshop, Board work session or executive session.
    • All Board meetings, except for executive sessions, are open to the public.
    • Individuals wishing to speak to the board have three options:
      • Individuals wishing to address the Board of Education on a specific agenda item are requested to sign up at the table on the south side of the board room prior to discussion of the Information and Action Items. Each individual may speak for a total of 3 minutes.
      • Individuals wishing to address the Board of Education on a non-agenda item are requested to sign up and will be provided an opportunity, limited to three minutes, at the beginning of the meeting and, limited to three minutes, at the end of the meeting during "Opportunity for Audience."
    • The Superintendent and APS Leadership Team will provide regular Monitoring Reports as well as quarterly informational updates to the Board.
    • Board meeting agendas and minutes are posted for public review at boe.aurorak12.org.
  • The Board also provides updates in publications and on the APS website throughout the year at boe.aurorak12.org.
  • Individuals may also contact Board members directly. Contact information is available at boe.aurorak12.org/members.
  • Throughout the year, the Board hosts community engagement sessions. Announcements about these sessions are posted on the Board website at boe.aurorak12.org and through invitations to targeted stakeholders.
  • The Board also hosts town hall and other meetings throughout the year to provide updates and gather feedback from stakeholders. Announcements about these meetings are posted on the Board website at boe.aurorak12.org and in key publications.
