APS Celebrates Love the Bus Day
Posted on 02/17/2022

Still on the "love bus" after Valentine's Day, Aurora Public Schools was thrilled to celebrate Love the Bus Day!

Students and staff from across the district bombarded our bus drivers and Transportation Department with handmade gifts and cards, tasty treats, warm hugs, and lots of love to express their gratitude for everything the dedicated employees do. Transportation staff also enjoyed being treated to a hearty breakfast, including a food truck meal and mouth-watering Voodoo Doughnuts, to start their day off right.

Fun

Every year, APS students and staff take time out of their busy schedules to ensure that the people who transport students safely and efficiently to and from school know that they are not only needed, but very appreciated by many. This year was no different. Many "we love our bus drivers" and "thank yous" were shared throughout the day. APS Board of Education members even made it a point to thank the Transportation team in person.

Although Love the Bus Day is only one day out of the year, we encourage our community to celebrate our Transportation team all year long. So next time you see a bus driver, paraeducator or any staff involved in transporting students, please be sure you let them know that you are thankful for all that they do.

Interested in joining the APS Transportation team? We are hiring bus drivers starting at $20.31 per hour! Apply at transportation.aurorak12.org/now-hiring or call 303-326-1986, ext. 28819 today!

To gain experience with writing in a professional setting, she added one more goal to her senior year-to serve the APS Communication Department as an intern through the Pickens Technical College Executive Internship Program. This program provides students with opportunities to explore career fields across the city before committing time and money toward college preparation. Students interested in interning should contact their school counselors. For businesses interested in welcoming an intern, please contact Kim Wisneski at 303-344-4910, ext. 27745.
